Anthony Ablordey

Profile

Anthony Ablordey holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Gent, Belgium. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana.

His research interest is in Molecular epidemiology and control of infectious diseases. He is extensively involved in Buruli ulcer research and has developed molecular typing methods for studying genetic diversity in Mycobacterium ulcerans, the causative agent of Buruli ulcer.

Ablordey is also working on developing a point of care test for the diagnosis of Buruli ulcer. He was the recipient of 2008 Eugene Yourassowsky Price for outstanding research work in Microbiology and Infectious diseases in Brussels, Belgium.

Ablordey was part of an international team of Research Scientists that successfully cultivatedMycobacterium ulcerans from the environment for the first time.

ARNTD exists to support evidence-based control and elimination of NTDs from Africa by empowering current and future generations of African researchers.
