Mike Osei-Atweneboana

Profile

Mike Osei-Atweneboana received a BSc in Biological Sciences and Nursing and a Master in Medical Parasitology and Entomology from the University of Ghana. He obtained a PhD in Medical Parasitology and Molecular Epidemiology in 2009 at the McGill University, Canada.

He is currently a Senior Researcher and Head of Department of the Environmental Biology and Health of the Water Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

His areas of research include molecular epidemiology, medical parasitology, and entomology, with research focus on drug efficacy, parasitological responses to chemotherapeutic agents, understanding the mechanisms and genetics of drug resistance in Onchocerca volvulus, soil transmitted nematodes and other parasitic diseases and development of molecular diagnostic tools for early detection of drug resistance for monitoring parasitic diseases.

ARNTD exists to support evidence-based control and elimination of NTDs from Africa by empowering current and future generations of African researchers.
