Williams is a Tanzanian physician by profession, married with two children, conducting research, teaching, supervising Post-graduate ( Msc & PhD students) and attending patients. He is also the head of Global health Department currently and scientific editor, reviewer of the centre.
His area of research is Tropical Medicine focusing on filarial disease (lymphatic filariasis (wolbachia endosymbionts & genetics)) Onchocerciasis , Onchocercal Associated Epilepsy (OAE), NCDs,STH, HIV/AIDS.
